OUR VISION

“Young Black Londoners twice as likely to be unemployed as white counterparts”

Independent and Evening Standard investigation reveals 37.4 per cent of Black Londoners aged 16-24 are unemployed
AMANI signifies “ASPIRATION” in Arabic and “STRENGTH” in Kiga.
Our mission is to empower these traits within the minds of our mentees.

Over the last few years we’ve listened to our community and mentees to produce a six month mentoring and employability programme for Black and Black mixed race 16-19 year-olds who are in need of a second chance.
Each mentee will have exclusive access to a series of inspirational workshops, mentoring sessions and networking opportunities with the intention of equipping them with the soft skills and confidence needed for a successful life and career.

This project was inspired by our CEO, Amani Simpson’s personal lived experience of getting a second chance at age 16 from a mentor who helped him build confidence and find a positive pathway.

Many of our mentees has faced systemic pressures and subsequently made ill-informed decisions, but they’re all deserving of a lifeline! This project is about uplifting the youths that society too often labels as unreachable and helping to install a foundation of self-awareness, hope and confidence before introducing them to other opportunities and support networks. Someone did it for me when I was 16 so I’m paying it forward to the next generation!
