Synopsis
SAVE ME is our social impact short film following Fiona (15), a teenager navigating a series of unsafe and unstable situations—both at home and in her wider environment—and Dean (13), who is silently battling the grief of losing his mum. Their paths cross after a chance encounter in the park, sparking an unexpected friendship.
As Fiona becomes increasingly entangled in pressures far beyond her control, the strength of their bond is tested. We meet them as they leap into a taxi, beginning a journey in search of freedom—but the question remains: will they make it to safety?
A powerful and emotional story about vulnerability, choices, and the quiet, everyday heroes who choose not to look the other way.

Project Background
In 2020, following the success of the multi-year Supporting Families Towards Safer Transitions (SFTST) project—funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), AVIARD were commissioned by Enfield Council to create a powerful legacy piece that would leave a lasting impact.
Amani, who had already developed strong relationships with young people at Unity Hub @ Craig Park, a youth club in Edmonton, led a series of creative workshops to capture their lived experiences, insights, and ideas.
SAVE ME was then written and directed by our very own visionary founder Amani Simpson, who was previously the producer and protagonist of the acclaimed 2019 short film ‘AMANI’ starring Hollywood Actor, Joivan Wade (now with over 4 million Youtube views).
To maximise the impact of the project, we assembled an experienced production team and cast a group of talented young actors, including popular YouTuber and TikToker ASmxlls, alongside rapper Lightz.
SAVE ME delivers a gripping and emotionally charged call to action, urging audiences to unite in tackling the national crisis affecting so many of our young people. The film explores critical themes such as grooming, child criminal exploitation, and extra-familial harm. It also highlights the urgent need for more peer and community-based active bystanders to step forward and make a difference.
"Yes it takes a village to raise a child,
but it takes a community to raise a generation"
Really eye opening for people who have no idea what goes on and who probably blame the young ones without this knowledge.. a must see for everyone”
“I've just watched this at work and cried, my breath was taken away! So powerful and looking forward to using with the children we work with. Thank you. A brilliant piece of work”
“All teaching staff were really impressed with the way Amani balanced his message (quite a scary one for Year 5/6) with humour yet keeping the underlying message strong...”
"This presentation reminded me to always ask why when a child acts out, and to put my feelings aside to offer them the love and care they deserve."
"My main takeaway from today is that: all kids are children. Behaviour is communication, so bad behaviour does not equal a bad kid. Behaviours can indicate a need for help and intervention."
"The feedback from both students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive—many described your visit as inspiring, and I believe the seed of hope has truly been planted."

#TheVillagePledge is a social action project and call to action urging individuals, communities, and professionals to step up for young people across the UK.
With rising levels of mental health issues, loneliness, and exploitation, too many children are falling through the cracks.
The campaign challenges us to go beyond awareness — to take practical steps that make a difference, from becoming active bystanders to volunteering, mentoring, fostering, or simply showing up with care and intention.
Because every child deserves to grow up in a community that sees them, protects them, and believes in their future.
